My Philosophy…

What up everybody,

Thank you for visiting the Chitlin Renaissance.  You may be asking yourself, “What is the Chitlin Renaissance?”  Well, I am glad you asked.  Basically, it is two brothers who say what they feel.  We needed a forum of our own to express how we feel and pull no punches.  The Chitlin Renaissance represents the scraps life gives you and the ability to make the best of it, because that’s what life really is isn’t it? Workin with the scraps you are given.  And that’s what we are tryin to do. 

Chitlins are in our roots, our heritage.  Most black people grew up with them in their house and are quite familiar of the stank that filled your grandmother’s house as they cleaned 30 or 40 pounds of pig guts.  That is a shared experience.  There is nothing glam about cookin chitlins.  It was doin the work that needed to be done.  But chitlins are soulful, because it represents a time when blacks where given the unedible parts of the swine and told to make somethin happen.  The Renaissance represents a rebirth and a resurgence.  The Renaissance is a period of time when human beings did things that have yet to be surpassed in creativity and ingenuity.  That is how we see ourselves and our lives.  We are equal parts chitlins and renaissance, struggle and triumph, beauty and sacrifice. 

So, we cannot promise you that what we say will be right, but we will say what you probably are thinking.  It is going to be real talk: no sugar, no cream.  Equal parts barbershop, pulpit, general commentary and motivational speaking.  So without further ado, welcome and come on in….
